Their release could help set the table for a fruitful summit between Trump and Kim as the US President seeks to discourage North Korea from its pursuit of nuclear weapons.

The Committee for Human Rights in North Korea welcomed the release of the three Americans, but noted many are still being held in North Korea, The New York Times reported.

Some members of Congress, while applauding the release of the three Americans, are expressing concern about the upcoming Trump-Kim summit.
