US President Donald Trump has caused outrage in France and the United Kingdom by suggesting that more relaxed gun laws could have prevented the 2015 Paris attacks and subdued rising knife crime in London.
Trump said Friday, in a speech before members of the National Rifle Association, that the situation in Paris would have ended differently if some of the people who suffered the attacks were armed.
Calling France's gun laws "the toughest in the world", he described how terrorists had "brutally" shot and killed 130 people at Parisian nightlife spots in the November 2015 attacks.
