Turkish military expansionism alerts its rivals in the Middle East
Speaking before thousands of fans in Istanbul on Sunday, Erdogan clarified next month's snap presidential and parliamentary polls as being a "milestone" to get a sturdy Turkey.
"I promise that inflation, interest rates and current account deficit will fall, that the Turkish economy will become more resilient to external shocks and financial attacks, that Turkey's investment appeal will increase", Erdogan said.
Erdoğan has called elections for 24 June, more than a year earlier than planned - a move analysts say is partly aimed at capitalising on nationalist sentiment running high after a successful campaign to oust Syrian Kurdish militia from the border enclave of Afrin.
On Jan. 20, Turkey launched Operation Olive Branch to clear YPG/PKK-ISIL terrorists from Afrin, northwestern Syria.
According to the Turkish General Staff, through the operation, the country wants to stabilise its border and also protect Syrians from terrorists.

With the election, Turkey is transforming its governing system to an executive presidency, abolishing the position of prime minister and vesting the ruling power in the presidency.
An alliance of opposition parties argue that the new system will lead to one-man rule and have vowed to return Turkey to a parliamentary system with strong checks and balances.
"Turkey will not stop and will continue operations in the region until, until you destroy the last terrorist in the territories from Ayn al-Arab to al-hasakah in Northern Syria from Sinjar to Kandil in Iraq", warned Erdogan.
"With the presidential government system, national income will increase and - since it will spread further in the base - the gap between the income groups will close rapidly", he said.
He added that Turkey had never abandoned its goal of European Union membership.
