The polls have closed in OH, where voters are choosing Democratic and Republican nominees who will vie for the governor and U.S. Senate in this fall's general election.

"Last election, when I voted on the actual Election Day, the lines were a lot shorter", he said.

Absentee voting is up compared with the 2014 midterm election, the secretary of state's office said.

"Changes" was in quotation marks above, because council members ultimately decided that they were not, in practice, limiting voters' ability to cast their vote prior to Election Day.

Two signs posted prominently on the doors of the Pulaski County Election Commission warned on the first day of early voting Monday that identification was required to cast a ballot.

-Each of the three Congressional races will feature a female in the general election. State Democrats, backed by Gov. Roy Cooper, have candidates for all 170 General Assembly seats this fall, and are hoping to end the GOP's veto-proof majorities.

Just one school board seat, District 3, had a primary, along with only one countywide race, that of Clerk of Superior Court. Voters in these counties will be able to return their ballot via mail or at any ballot drop box located in their county.

DeWine's approach struck a positive chord with Republican voter Matthew Charnas, who said he was looking for "independent-minded" Republicans who didn't model themselves after Trump.

Polls are open from 6:30 a.m.to 7:30 p.m. If you prefer to vote at a polling place, the address is on the back of your booklet.

Early voting will run through Friday, May 18.

It was only Tucker's second time to vote early in an election.

The 11-day election campaign saw the contesting parties wooing the people for their support through the conventional and social media approaches, appealing especially to the young electors aged between 21 and 39 who make up 41.3% of the electorate.
