ARCTIC BLAST: Trump SLAMS Canada’s Trudeau Over G7 Comments

Trump Takes More Swipes at Canada After Arrival in Singapore

"President Trump's systematic break with accepted norms is not only destabilising, it also leads to a total lack of predictability; everything becomes about him".

Trump said on Twitter Saturday he directed officials not to endorse the communique as a response to comments made by Trudeau at a news conference after Trump left for his meeting in Singapore.

"But the conclusion I draw is that it is only through continued dialogue that we can find ways to work together to resolve the challenges we face".

Trump roiled the weekend Group of Seven meeting of industrialized nations in Canada by agreeing to a group statement on trade only to withdraw from it while flying to Asia. It makes little sense that these preexisting charges on USA exports would contribute to the president's sudden reversal.

The G7 meeting was expected to be tense after Trump's decision to impose steel and aluminum tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and the European Union.

"The U.S. was trying to be disruptive to the G7", he said.

Canada's limited options mean "there is no magical Plan B", said University of Ottawa global affairs professor Patrick Leblond.

"He really kind of stabbed us in the back", Kudlow said.

Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau takes part in a news conference in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, May 31, 2018. That's what weak, dishonest Justin Trudeau did. "One of the arguments was that the president can't show weakness, and that what Trudeau did required this robust response otherwise the president would appear to be weak as he flew to Singapore".

The accusation of backstabbing does not comport with Trudeau's overall message, which was mild and echoed some of his previous statements. He also said that because of Trudeau's comments, he instructed US trade representatives to not sign the communique the G-7 leaders had agreed upon expressing the need for "free, fair, and mutually beneficial trade".

Dragon Quest XI was also looking very good, with great graphics and an interesting, somewhat Zelda-esque, open world. Square Enix released a trailer for an all-new game called Babylon's Fall during the publisher's E3 conference.

Democrats have accused Republicans of trying to suppress votes from minorities and poorer people who tend to vote for Democrats. Voters who then fail to respond to the notice and fail to vote within the next two years are removed from the rolls.

Theresa May calls on Trump to honour G7 commitments
Shortly after that statement was published online, Trump complained about comments made by Trudeau and revoked his support. There is more to leadership than hosting a meeting and posing for a smiling selfie.

Former U.S. Ambassador Bruce Heyman, who served under former U.S. President Barack Obama, has also backed Trudeau.

You would think a US president who is hours away from sitting down for negotiations with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and perhaps bring an end to the Korean War and maybe making some headway on the denuclearization of the Koreas would be completely focused on that, but not Donald Trump.

He went on to urge American audiences as well as Berman and Sciutto to separate the G7 comments from the upcoming summit in North Korea, suggesting Trump's tough tariff talk and sensitive nuclear policy are apples and oranges.

TAPPER: So, this was about North Korea? -Canada border. Trudeau told reporters that imposing retaliatory measures "is not something I relish doing" but that he wouldn't hesitate to do so because "I will always protect Canadian workers and Canadian interests".

KUDLOW: They are all related.

US President Donald Trump attacked America's closest allies in a series of tweets after leaving the summit.

"I do believe that the president and his team are purposeful in destroying and dismantling kind of our western alliance allies at the G7", Heyman said. So he projects these feelings onto Trudeau and then lashes out at him.

TAPPER: So what is key here?

In the Commons, Mrs May acknowledged that the summit had been "difficult" and told MPs she had expressed her "deep disappointment" at the "unjustified" imposition of tariffs on American imports of European steel and aluminium.
