Only 15 of the 99 competitive seats are now held by Democrats, while 84 are held by Republicans. Wittman is running for reelection and is on the republican ballot for this primary.

Fifty-one of the 99 competitive races are in those eight states-California (10), Pennsylvania (9), Florida (7), OH (5), Minnesota (5), New Jersey (5), NY (5), and MI (5). On the campaign trail, the two have fought over who is the more progressive candidate. But the 10 also heavily favored Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election, voting for the Democrat by almost 10 points.

According to Politico, Sanford has launched an 11th-hour, $380,000 barrage of commercials going after state Republican Rep. Katie Arrington, is barnstorming his district, and laid out in a full-page letter to a local newspaper "the list of things I have gotten done" on behalf of voters, even posting his cell phone number in case they had questions.

Rep. Mark Sanford, R-S.C. - a former SC governor who has never lost a bid for political office - is sweating Tuesday's primary against a newcomer who has portrayed him as a disloyal Never-Trumper, Politico reported.

In conservative North Dakota, Republican Representative Kevin Cramer faces little competition in the race for the nomination to challenge Democratic Senator Heidi Heitkamp. As voters head into the polls, six Democrats are still competing.

Ahead of a primary contest Tuesday, Ms. Comstock is highlighting her vote for Republican tax cuts and her work combating violent gangs in the region as she tries to shore up the pro-Trump elements of her party. Clinton, despite being the Democratic standard bearer less than two years ago, has largely sat out the 2018 midterms.

Finally, in Virginia's 4th Congressional District, incumbent Donald McEachin is running unopposed in the Democratic primary.

While Democrats here helped Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton win the state in 2008, 2012 and 2016-and the party completed a takeover of both chambers of the statehouse in 2016-Nevada has kept most top constitutional statewide offices in Republican hands.

"A review of the Governor's submission highlights that it is a partisan endeavor, clearly drawn exclusively to favor Democrats".

Clinton ends the message by saying Giunchigliani "will be a governor that you can be proud of".

Splitting the difference from the two most recent elections, we are probably looking at around 517,000 total voters ("Republicans" and Democrats) hitting the polls this cycle ... which would fall well short of the 623,418 who showed up in 2010, the last time there was a partisan primary election for governor.

South Carolina, Nevada, North Dakota and ME also will choose candidates for the November 6 races that could help determine control of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, including two of the most competitive Senate races.

Democrats have targeted Comstock as a vulnerable seat in the House of Representatives.
