Prosecutors say McFarland committed crimes even after he pleaded guilty in March to defrauding investors and vendors in the Fyre Festival.

Prosecutors said McFarland, 26, began running the scheme late past year, several months after his arrest for defrauding Fyre investors out of $26 million.

Gorenstein, noting that McFarland would likely face an additional two years or so in prison if he is convicted in the new case, said that if he is freed on bail in the Fyre Festival case, he'll face a $1 million bail on the new charges.

The Fyre Festival garnered national headlines in April 2017 after being advertised as an idyllic getaway to the Bahamas, complete with gourmet food, luxury accommodations, performances by Ja Rule and Blink-182.

Fyre Festival founder Billy McFarland has been arrested on fresh fraud charges following a post-Fyre Festival ticket scam, reports Pitchfork.

For the ticket scam, McFarland now faces a new count of wire fraud and one count of money laundering.

Billy McFarland was rearrested Tuesday and charged with earning $100,000 by selling fake tickets to exclusive fashion, music and sporting events through NYC VIP Access, a company he controlled.

McFarland allegedly solicited Fyre Fest attendees to purchase "tickets" from the company. The festival was anything but the ultra-luxurious event promoted as "the cultural experience of the decade" and touted on social media by Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski and other models and celebrities.

"William McFarland, already awaiting sentencing for a prior fraud scheme, allegedly continued to conduct criminal business as usual", United States Attorney Geoffrey Berman said in a statement.
