Kim Kardashian meets Alice Marie Johnson for first time- and teaches her about Snapchat

The interview will air on Thursday (June 14) on NBC News' TODAY.

Kardashian West, a 37-year-old mom of three, said she was in disbelief about her visit to the Oval Office, at the time thinking, "This is insane".

A brief sneak-peek clip from the interview reveals there's a lot of affection between Kardashian and the 63-year-old grandmother, who had been imprisoned since 1996 after receiving a life sentence for cocaine trafficking despite being a non-violent offender with no prior arrests.

"As soon as I found out who she was I started getting every magazine I could find, I started reading everything I could about her". "I hope maybe this inspires more people to talk to the people in power, that you can have an effect over them for the greater good of other people".

When asked why she made a decision to champion Johnson's cause outside social media, Kardashian, who first shared Johnson's story with her 60 million Twitter followers in November, said she had tunnel vision.

Trump granted clemency for Johnson earlier this month following the meeting.

The 25 boundaries and four sixes in the first session was a testimony that there is a long road that Afghanistan need to travel. However, the ball just missed the stumps despite pitching in the line, giving a lifeline for the Delhi batsman .

"At first, I - I thought she knew because the news was starting to break and we had to get her on the phone", Kim explained.

The clemency came after Kim hired a team of attorneys to investigate Alice's case after coming across it on Twitter. "I think I have to live it out for her, for my family, for the supporters".

Kardashian West acknowledged that she has opposed Trump's policies in the past.

Last week, an emotional Johnson marveled at her freedom after more than two decades behind bars, grateful for a second chance - and craving seafood.

Regarding her controversial Oval Office meeting with the president, Kim said it was an inspiring experience not rooted in politics, but rather in people - one person, specifically, who she believed did not belong in prison. But Kardashian West didn't want to take too much credit for Johnson's release and acknowledged others who tried to help her over the years. "I love this lady", Johnson replies.

More than a dozen people were lined up across the home where Kardashian and Johnson met. "And I said, 'Wait, you don't know?' And she was like, 'Know what?' And I was like, 'You're going home'". "This, like, fulfilled my heart, and so since I feel so fulfilled, why would I stop that?"
