German Chancellor Angela Merkel warned the United States on Sunday that USA tariffs on imported steel and aluminum would not go unchallenged.

As expected, these countries are now retaliating with tariffs of their own that will hurt USA farmers, manufacturers and blue-collar workers, the same people who voted for Trump. "[Trudeau] can't put Trump in a position of being weak going into the North Korean talks with Kim. Kim must not see American weakness".

President Donald Trump's chief economic adviser Larry Kudlow and his trade adviser Peter Navarro blasted Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Sunday for "betraying" the United States and engaging in "bad faith diplomacy" at this week's fractious G7 summit.

"The world as we know it, namely the USA -led rules-based multilateralism, is now in serious danger of unraveling, as illustrated at the G7 meeting", said Erik Nielsen, chief economist at Unicredit Bank. Mr Trump said the move would protect domestic producers that were vital to United States security.

On Twitter he accused Trudeau of "false statements" and wrote that he had ordered his aides to withdraw US endorsement of the joint communique. Trudeau stuck our president in the back.

"[Trudeau] really kind of stabbed us in the back", Kudlow said.

"There are more jobs now posted than there are people looking for work in the United States, and we've cut immigration pretty substantially", he said, noting that the country's birth rate is low.
