The suspension is also more focused. "With enhanced performance, sharper dynamics and more powerful design language, Aston Martin has taken Rapide to new and exciting extremes".

Aston Martin has detailed its latest racing-theme special edition, the Rapide AMR, that was first unveiled as a concept in Geneva. Aston Martin says it only plans to make just 210 of the cars to sell worldwide, each priced from $240,000.

Visually, the vehicle looks largely identical to the concept from Geneva, with a detailed front grille and circular daytime running lights that are Zagato-inspired.

The Rapide AMR's aerodynamics have been tuned to reduce lift while retaining a neutral balance and the extra aerodynamic bodywork such as the splitter, sills, rear diffuser and boot lid lip spoiler are all carbon fibre. The bonnet features larger ventilation inserts and carbon fibre.

The AMR variant keeps the same 0-60mph time as the standard Rapide S at 4.2sec and shares the same naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12 engine with 465lb ft of torque, but it gets uprated power from 545bhp to 595bhp.

Altogether it's sufficient for 0-60 miles per hour in a mere 4.2 seconds, and a top-speed of 205 miles per hour.

It also utilises the cooling system on the Vanquish S, with modified brake ducts and dust shields. Carbon-ceramic brakes have also been fitted - a first for the Rapide - comprised of 400mm discs at the front gripped by six-pot calipers, and 360mm discs and four-pot calipers at the rear.

In a first for Aston Martin, the AMR gets 21-inch forged wheels. The Rapide AMR sits 10 mm lower than the Rapide S with a redesigned set of three stage adaptive dampers.

Even the colour schemes available ensure that the AMR won't go unnoticed. The Standard and Silhouette designs come in your choice of four colours - black, blue and two shades of silver - with lime green accents on the splitter, sills and rear diffuser in Standard trim and a full-length contrasting stripe in grey or white on the Silhouette.

Meanwhile, the Signature scheme (pictured) teams Stirling Green exterior paint with Lime accents and a Lime stripe, which "draws the closest visual link to the Aston Martin Racing team". Each vehicle gets AMR logos stitched into the seats and a limited-edition AMR plaque on the carbon sills. Every vehicle has discrete AMR logos stitched into the seats in Galena Silver and each auto will come with a limited-edition AMR inspection plaque as well as AMR branding on the carbon sill plaques. A One-77 style steering wheel is available as an option.

In addition to the three design schemes, customers will also be able make use of Q by Aston Martin to further personalise their vehicle.

Pricing for the Rapide AMR starts at £194,950 ($344,219) in the United Kingdom and US$240,000 ($316,860) in North America. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2018.
