Raptors hiring Nick Nurse as head coach

Nurse has agreed to become the next coach of the Toronto Raptors, a person with direct knowledge of the hire told The Associated Press on Tuesday (Wednesday, Manila time).

Wojnarowski adds, however, that the two sides are still working through contractual details.

An assistant for the Raptors since 2013, Nurse, 50, was a two-time coach of the year in the British Basketball League. External candidates included San Antonio Spurs assistants Ettore Messina and Ime Udoka, former Atlanta Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer (who was hired by the Milwaukee Bucks on May 17) and EuroLeague coach Sarunas Jasikevicius.
