Tesla to Roll Out Software with Self-Driving Focus

Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) stock surged more than 12 points to $330 in early trading Monday after Chief Executive Elon Musk tweeted that the next major Tesla software update will begin to enable all versions of the electric auto "full self-driving features".

The tweet that alerted the world to Tesla's impending update was a response to an owner complaining about Autopilot's merging performance in traffic.

"To date, Autopilot resources have rightly focused entirely on safety", Elon Musk tweeted.

According to Musk, Tesla "will begin to enable full self-driving features" in August with the release of Autopilot Version 9. This means that a bottle containing high-pressure air will be used to add thrust to the auto without actually strapping a rocket to the back of your vehicle - something that's probably not going to make your auto zero-emission.

Shortly thereafter, Musk noted that the "next gen Roadster will be absolutely out of this world" and that "for those who love to drive, there is no finer auto in history and we don't think there will be another".

Nike withdraws Iran World Cup team's boots due to sanctions
Trump said the US would re-impose sweeping, harsh economic sanctions on Iran . He deemed the pact ineffective and "one-sided". The Hill has reached out to Nike for comment.

Tesla declined to confirm which features will be offered in the upcoming update, nor when the promised full self-driving functionality will be available.

The NTSB's recent preliminary report into the fatal Tesla crash in Mountain View this March found no precrash braking or evasive steering before the vehicle drove into a road barrier.

The company is counting on Model 3 sales to help it reach profitability.

As a remake of one of Tesla's very first vehicles, the new Roadster has been kept under wraps for the past few months and from the outside at least, the Tesla Roadster continues the design language we've seen on the Model X, Model 3 and updated Model S, with a somewhat more aggressive edge.

Autopilot in its current form is a driver-assistance system that still requires the driver to pay attention and be ready to take control of the steering wheel.
