Trump adviser says Trudeau 'stabbed us in the back' at G7 summit

A divisive summit in Canada at the weekend ended with U.S. President Donald Trump firing off a volley of tweets, venting anger against North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies, the European Union and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Trump, en route to Singapore, called Trudeau's news conference "very dishonest & weak" following his tweet ahead of the G7 summit calling Trudeau "indignant".

Trudeau told reporters that the statement was supported by every member, but Trump's Twitter message Saturday withdrew USA support for the communique.

The annual G7 summit appeared to have weathered tensions over Trump's threats of a trade war on Saturday - until the USA president pulled out of a joint statement while citing "false statements" by Trudeau. -Canada border. Trudeau told reporters that imposing retaliatory measures "is not something I relish doing" but that he wouldn't hesitate to do so because "I will always protect Canadian workers and Canadian interests".

Kudlow admitted to CNN on Sunday that Trump had "compromised on the communique" but changed his mind later, seeing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's appear vindicated after the summit.

Kudlow also insisted that Trudeau's remarks were created to make America look weak as Trump flies to Singapore for his meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.

When asked if the president shares his views, Navarro said that the sentiment came from "Air Force One".

Kudlow said allies should have been more supportive of Trump given the meeting with Kim, using the words "crazy nuclear tyrant" in reference to the North Korean leader. "The worst", Trump said when he got his reply, going on to give a fairly length answer nonetheless.

Trudeau said he had reiterated to Mr. Trump, who left the G7 meeting before it ended, that tariffs would harm industries and workers on both sides of the U.S.

In the two tweets that ended USA support for the joint G-7 statement, Trump accused Trudeau of having made "false statements" during a prior press conference. All Justin Trudeau had to do was take the win.

"He did him a favor", Navarro said. While many close followers have been left astounded by some of the rhetoric directed toward Trudeau on this trade issue, Political Scientist Hamish Telford with the University of the Fraser Valley expects our prime minister will now adjust his approach in dealing with the American leader. "I figured. Fake News CNN". But Trump's rhetoric after the conference wasn't that different from his rhetoric before it.

Trump may not be the free trader Kudlow describes him to be.

Before leaving for Singapore, Mr. Trump had delivered a stark warning to America's trading partners not to counter his decision to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. "They should let Russian Federation come back in because we should have Russian Federation at the negotiating table".

Germany and France are also standing by the jointly agreed communique.

Merkel did not know Trump planned to do this and only found out he pulled out from the "arduously negotiated" declaration while she was returning from the summit.
