Watch: US woman arrested after children filmed in car in pet kennels

Police in Memphis have arrested a woman after a viral video shows her traveling with two children in pet kennels.

This past Saturday, a witness filmed Leimome Cheeks, 62, as she let her grandchildren out of the auto in the 3700 block of Elvis Presley Blvd. She seems like a nice lady.

Ms Cheeks can be seen opening the cage doors to the kennels as the children hop out.

Cheeks told police that she traveled with the children in the kennel from Collierville to Whitehaven because there was no room for them in the auto, Cleveland 19 News reports. Police said the back of the vehicle did not have any air vents, according to the Commercial Appeal.

Facebook Leimome Cheeks is being charged with child endangerment after allegedly locking two children in dog kennels in the trunk of her SUV.

In an affidavit, Cheeks admitted to placing the children in the pet kennels and transporting them from Whitehaven to Collierville to Downtown Memphis. "If she did that, then that's out of character for her", one neighbor said. "I couldn't see her actually doing that".

The 62-year-old was being held Sunday at Shelby County Jail.

Cheeks, meanwhile, was expected to appear in court on Monday.
