Cardi B countersues former manager

Superstar rapper Cardi B has launched a counter-lawsuit against her former manager, whom she claims was "disloyal and deceitful" and even tried to control her romantic life.

Cardi B has made a decision to launch a counter-suit against Klenord Raphael on the basis that he exploited her and tried to maintain control over her career and personal life.

Cardi's team claims Shaft took a 20 per cent fee as her manager, but then set up two companies, WorldStar and KSR, through which they claim he convinced Cardi to put more money in his pocket.

The legal battle between Cardi B and her former manager is heating up.

76ers say LeBron James 'strongly' considered Philly
It's a big day for the Los Angeles Lakers as LeBron James signed his 4-year $154-million contract with the purple and gold. The Cavaliers had hoped to re-sign James, who has appeared in eight consecutive NBA Finals.

In April, Cardi had a suit filed against her by Raphael, who claimed he'd helped to develop her talent and reputation only for her to turn her back on him when she reached the top of the music business.

The complaint continues to state that in 2014, Cardi B hired Shaft to act as her personal manager and book her appearances at dance clubs as a means of developing her growing musical career. "Despite having a fiduciary duty as a manager to act in Ms. Almanzar's best interest with undivided loyalty, Shaft himself and through his entities took advantage of Ms. Almanzar's trust and naiveté and persuaded her to sign contracts and to enter deals in which Shaft attempted to take an unreasonable and unconscionable portion of Ms. Almanzar's earnings in the entertainment industry for himself".

And it was for this reason the former manager sued her and demanded no less than $10 million in damages.

As the documents read, as Cardi became more successful, "so too did Shaft's greed". This is the same record label that signed rap group the Migos, of which her husband Offset (real name Kiari Kendrell Cephus) is a member. Leonard is listed as a co-writer on Cardi B's "Bodak Yellow". This apparently included her relationships as she claims Shaft would tell her "who she should and should not see romantically". Her latest album "Invasion of Privacy" was released earlier this month and debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 200.
