From time to time Facebook releases new apps that are created to make our lives easier and more convenient, although sometimes these apps don't necessarily achieve the same level of success as Facebook would have liked.

Facebook launched Hello in 2015 as a way for people using Android in Brazil, Nigeria and the USA to combine contact information on their phone with information from Facebook.

All three apps will have their user data erased from existence within 90 days, according to Facebook.

Perhaps the most well-known of these services was Moves, which Facebook bought in 2014.

Why it matters: Facebook is no stranger to experimentation and in the grand scheme of things, shutting down these apps probably won't cause much of a ripple. Facebook plans to depreciate the Moves app and Moves API on July 30. It enables people to combine information from Facebook with contact information on their phone.

Tbh is an acronym for "to be honest", and the game-like app allowed U.S. teenagers to send compliments to their friends through a series of quizzes and polls.

Facebook bug quietly unblocked more than 800,000 blocked users
Facebook chief privacy officer Erin Egan in today's blog post explained the new bug was active between May 29 and June 5. When asked by a journalist, Facebook on Twitter provided context of what caused the bug and how it worked.

Tbh ("to be honest") was downloaded 5 million times in the USA in its first nine weeks, before being bought by Facebook for an undisclosed sum. Moves was a popular fitness tracking app that showed users their daily calorie burn based on the types of movements they performed.

"We regularly review our apps to assess which ones people value most", the company wrote in its announcement.

Like any other huge corporation, Facebook occasionally acquires other, smaller companies in the hopes of getting something out of them.

Tbh, an acronym for "to be honest", was aimed at American high school and college students, and described itself as "the only anonymous app with positive vibes".

"We need to prioritise our work so we don't spread ourselves too thin". Sometimes this means closing an app and its accompanying APIs. It let users create quizzes their friends could vote on, and you can see how it worked in practice here.
