Less than a month ago, IHOP revealed the flip flop to IHOb and instantly lit up social media.

"And it worked. Look at us, two silly pancakes talkin' about burgers".

While the change got plenty of hype online, and resulted in brick-and-mortar locations swapping out their signage in favor of the new brand name for the ubiquitous diner chain, it was not meant to last long.

To celebrate the return of IHOP and the chain's 60th birthday, IHOP is selling short stacks of pancakes for just 60 cents on July 17.

IHOb has officially returned to calling itself IHOP - and admitted the change was all part of a publicity stunt.

We've been fooled! IHOP announced on its Facebook page Monday that it "faked" the IHOb name change to promote its new burgers.

But it moved conversation away from pancakes for a minute, a rebrand that Business Insider called an "incredible strategic move".

Prior to the IHOb campaign, 19% of United States adults said they had talked about the chain in the past two weeks. That's what we're after: "Giving more people more reasons to come to IHOP more often".
