Jones was involved in one of the many wrecks, but his No. 20 Toyota was still in good enough shape to get by Truex.

AJ Allmendinger ran third after a nine-car wreck ended the first overtime attempt with Truex approaching the finish line just short of the end of the white-flag lap. It was another odd top 10 at Daytona.

"I think it's a little bit typical plate racing, " reigning Daytona 500 champion Austin Dillon told NBC Sports after Saturday's Cup race. Stenhouse Jr. was able to continue but cut a tire later in the race to take him from contention...

Chevrolet extended its winless streak to 18 races, its longest since a 31-race drought in 1981-82.

The first wreck was very similar to a crash Keselowski was involved in during February's Daytona 500.

Kyle Larson spun sideways coming out of Turn 4 because of a flat tire, and Stenhouse slammed into him. He put his best sarcasm on display when he was interviewed after leaving the infield care center, saying that he needed to start wrecking more drivers.

The final circuit was the only one Jones led.

Stenhouse also won the first stage, his first of the stage victory year.

Although it was a relatively early point in the race, Lap 53 proved to be one of the defining moments of the night.

"It's been insane partly due to a few of my issues", Stenhouse told NBC broadcasters during the race.

Busch's brother, Kyle, got knocked out in a subsequent crash sparked by Stenhouse, and noted, "Same guy that caused the first one caused the second one there".

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has wrecked more than half the field at Daytona.

"I was frustrated with myself causing crashes like that", he said.

This year's races at Daytona for Cup, Xfinity and Camping World Truck teams damaged the most vehicles at that track since 2012.

Lap 51 in stage two saw the big one occur after Ricky Stenhouse made contact with Brad Keselowski turning him into Kurt Busch, causing the big one involving at least 20 cars including Chase Elliott, Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, Austin Dillon, Clint Bowyer, Aric Almirola, Kevin Harvick, Ty Dillon, Daniel Suarez, Paul Menard, Kyle Larson, Bubba Wallace Jr, Jimmie Johnson, Alex Bowman, Kasey Kahne, Corey LaJoie, Martin Truex Jr, Jamie McMurray, Jeffrey Earnhardt, Ross Chastain, Matt DiBenedetto, and Michael McDowell.

With 11 laps left to go in the stage, things got back underway with Stenhouse Jr. leading the way.

"I've got to wreck more people, and then they'll stop blocking me late and behind like that". "It usually happens much later in the night".

"Thank you to everybody @StewartHaasRcng, vehicle was fast".

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. won the first two stages of the race. My first Cup win, my first win at Daytona, my first superspeedway win. Eight laps later, Byron and Kyle Busch were involved and the caution resulted in Byron losing his spot.

It was that kind of night in the Coke Zero Sugar 400, with crashes throughout the event.

"No, it's aggressive speedway racing", Stenhouse said.
