Kate and Meghan will take to the royal box to watch the game, and it is sure to be a memorable experience for Meghan in particular, as she'll watch her close friend Serena Williams compete against Angelique Kerber for the chance to win a record-breaking 24th grand slam title. Kerber, who lost to Williams in Wimbledon's 2016 final, will have a shot at redemption in what's already been a solid season.

Williams has improved round by round at SW19 over the past two weeks and her power was a joy to behold as surprise semifinalist Goerges fell 6-2, 6-4. Williams won that for a second consecutive title at the All England Club, then sat out the grass-court tournament a year ago while pregnant, part of a 16-month gap between majors.

The left-handed Kerber, a former No. 1 and two-time major champion, beat 12th-seeded Jelena Ostapenko 6-3, 6-3 earlier Thursday.

"I didn't expect to play this well so quickly into my comeback", Williams said after the match.

"I don't have anything to lose and I feel I can play so free". I had multiple surgeries and almost didn't make it when I gave birth. She's coming back and for me also I'm coming back from 2017. "I know that she is always pushing you to the limits to play your best tennis".

"Whatever happens, honestly it's an incredible effort from me", the 36-year-old Williams said, "and good motivation to keep going for the rest of my career".

The boys lost about two kilograms each the doctors said, or about 4.4 pounds. The group entered the cave June 23 but flooding cut off the exit.

Five games in, Ostapenko led 3-2, and the numbers were still tilted toward her.

Kerber has already made the semifinal of the Australian Open and the quarterfinal of the French Open this year.

For Meghan, her attendance comes days after her whistle stop trip to Dublin, which saw the 36-year-old mark her first tour outside the United Kingdom with new husband Prince Harry.

At 181st in the world, Williams, who gave birth to her daughter 10 months ago, is the lowest ranked player to reach the women's final.

After having Princess Charlotte in May 2015, the Duchess's maternity leave lasted six months and it was expected to be the same length of time for her third child.

Wimbledon continues Friday with the men's semifinals: Rafael Nadal playing Novak Djokovic for a 52nd time, most between two men in the Open Era (Djokovic leads 26-25), and American John Isner against South African Kevin Anderson in a match of first-time Wimbledon semifinalists. There was one brief blip to come: Williams got broken for the only time while serving for the match at 5-3.
