Manchester City have completed a club-record £60million move for Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City.

Yet Mahrez is now a Manchester City player and a record deal for the champions, beating the £57m paid for Aymeric Laporte in January.

The Algerian moved to the Etihad outfit on a reported sum of 68 million pounds and has penned a five-year contract with them.

"Riyad is a hugely talented player", Begiristain told the official Man City website.

Mahrez played a huge part of the Leicester City's during the 2015-16 season title triumph and was named the PFA Player's Player of the Year that season.

Since Mahrez made his Premier League debut in 2014, only eight players - Eden Hazard, Diego Costa, Eriksen, Jamie Vardy, Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane - have been involved in more goals. He beats defenders and creates space.

"Guardiola wanted Mahrez from Leicester City in January but was willing to wait until the summer after a refusal to match the Foxes' valuation", reports the Daily Mail. "We're sure he will bring additional attacking quality to our squad".

He scored 48 goals in 179 appearances for the Foxes.

Mahrez, along with striker Jamie Vardy and midfielder Kante, became unlikely household names in 2016 as Italian manager Claudio Ranieri engineered one of the greatest sporting surprises of all time. Now it seems City are seeking to get rid of him for good, and Birmingham City are said to be in with a chance of signing him.

Milan splashed out over 200 million euros (Sh23.6 billion) on players last summer.
