Stormy Daniels was released from jail early Thursday following her arrest at a strip club in OH and plans to plead not guilty to misdemeanor charges, her lawyer said. According to TMZ, the customer Daniels allowed to "motorboat" her turned out to be Columbus police officer Mary Prather.

Avenatti posted on Twitter on Thursday morning that Daniels will plead not guilty to three misdemeanor charges.

According to an article published a year ago in The Columbus Dispatch, the law, which also restricts the hours of operation for strip clubs and adult book stores, is rarely, if ever, enforced. "There has to be higher priorities!"

"This was a setup & politically motivated".

Avenatti said Daniels was arrested while "performing the same act she has performed across the nation at almost a hundred strip clubs".

Daniels was released on bail early Thursday morning, and is due back in court Friday morning for an arraignment. He said he has been talking with "reasonable" prosecutors all morning and Daniels will leave the state of OH within the next several hours.

Columbus police did not confirm Daniels' arrest to Fox News. A person who answered the phone at the strip club declined to comment.

Mr Avenatti posted on Twitter a statement by Daniels that said she apologised to her fans in Columbus, but she would not perform her previously scheduled Thursday night show. Avenatti tweeted that his client would not perform at the club Thursday night. Trump has forcefully denied the affair. He initially said he used his own money to pay Daniels and was not reimbursed by the president.

Avenatti blasted the arrest as a "politically motivated sting" and a 'ridiculous use of [police] resources'.

"This was a complete set-up", he said.
