Raheem Sterling criticism is "disgusting", says Gary Neville

The 23-year-old has scored just twice in 42 appearances for England - against modest Lithuania and Estonia - a record that stands in sharp contrast to his increasingly prolific strike rate at club level.

Some see the fact that he is yet to score in the tournament as a huge negative.

Those rumours proved unfounded as Sterling played the full 90 minutes of the 6-1 rout, setting up Jesse Lingard for England's goal of the tournament so far.

It follows messages of support from David Beckham and Gary Neville. He would have knocked that one in over the top, he's got a great touch.

Sterling has had opportunities to score in Russian Federation, one of which came during the second half of their quarter-final win over Sweden on Saturday. Should they win, they'll return to the Luzhniki on Sunday to face Belgium or France in the World Cup final.

"He had an excellent game against Sweden, running into space and stretching the defence", the former Arsenal striker added.

"Against a better team like Croatia, it is important Raheem makes the right decisions".

Kim sets LPGA mark with 31-under total at Thornberry

Flooding in Japan has killed more than 100
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe canceled a planned trip to Europe and the Middle East to oversee disaster activities. Residents lined up for water under the scorching sun as temperatures rose to 35 degrees, raising risks of heat stroke.

"The last semi-final I was involved in there were a lot of similarities in terms of the camaraderie of the group, the commitment of the guys who haven't played, the desire to play a possession-based game and the tactical understanding that the players have shown on the field".

Real Madrid's former Spurs playmaker Luka Modric and Barcelona's Ivan Rakitic are two of their key men, and Dier is fully aware of their talents in midfield.

England survived a penalty shootout against Colombia in the last 16 whereas Croatia emerged through extra-time and spot-kicks against Denmark before going through the same ordeal again against Russian Federation in Saturday's quarter-final.

"But we are looking forward to a different style of game against England because they like to play attacking football".

And this could benefit England if Sterling makes the most of the space presented to him.

And Dier feels Sterling's handling of the whole situation has been nothing short of "incredible", before going on to laud his team-mate's World Cup performances.
