Steven Gerrard has been busy in the transfer market already this summer, as he looks to put together a squad which is capable of competing both domestically and in Europe in the upcoming season.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has hinted that the Scottish Premier League club is close to agreeing a deal with Italian outfit AS Roma for Nigerian forward Sadiq Umar.

"Rangers are delighted to announce the signing of Umar Sadiq on a season-long loan from Roma, subject to global clearance", read a statement on club website.

Talking to Rangers TV, the midfielder said he was anxious he was the victim of a prank call when Gerrard phoned him to discuss a move to Rangers.

Should the tall 21-year-old complete the switch to Glasgow, Rangers will be getting an exciting young talent who has impressed out on loan with NAC Breda in the Eredivisie earlier in the year. Coulibaly told Rangers TV.
