Some 18,632 people have been sacked including 8,998 police officers 3,077 army soldiers

Turkish government has so far suspended or dismissed more than 150,000 judges, teachers, police and civil servants since July 15 through government decrees issued as part of an ongoing state of emergency. At least three newspapers, a television channel and several associations also shut down.

The Turkish government has adopted a decree in line with the state of the emergency regime, declared following the 2016 coup attempt, the official Resmi Gazete reported.

Turkey is lifting the state of emergency on Monday after the announcement of new cabinet, Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said on Thursday.

The Turkish government has blamed US -based Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen for the failed coup attempt during which 250 people were killed.

Gulen himself, who has been residing in the United States since 1999, has refuted all the allegations on numerous occasions.

Turkey blames exiled preacher and businessmen Fethullah Gulen for the attempted power grab and cracked down decisively, implementing a state of emergency and using enhanced powers to sack scores of civil servants.

Also, 3,077 personnel from the land forces command, 1,126 from the naval forces command, and 1,949 from the air force command were ousted from the Turkish army.

Earlier this year, the government said more than 77,000 people had been arrested over alleged links to Gulen.

Tens of thousands of others have been fired or suspended in the vast purge.
