"It will be the century's longest total lunar eclipse with a whopping one hour and 43 minutes in totality". The live stream starts at 11:30pm IST on July 27 2018, so you can hit the play button in the video embedded below at the designated time to start your viewing of the eclipse.

The lunar eclipse kicked off 5.14pm Universal Time (6.14pm BST) when the July full Moon entered the Earth's region of faintest shadow, the penumbra.

On December 26 next year, people in Brunei will be experien-cing a partial solar eclipse when the moon passes in front of the Sun. The Moon will take three hours and 55 minutes to cross the Earth's dark shadow during its sojourn. The moon will begin to appear reddish around 18:24 GMT as it moves into the main part of the Earth's shadow. It's when the eclipsed Moon can be seen on one horizon, while the rising Sun can also be observed near the opposite horizon. The longest "blood moon" this century will be closely tracked by Mars through the sky in a double celestial treat of a kind that will not be repeated for decades.

At the same time, Mars will be traveling closer to earth than it has been since 2003, so some observers may be able to see what looks like an orange-red star - and is in fact the red planet.

The eclipse will happen on the night of July 27 into the early morning of July 28.

No protective eyewear is needed and the eclipsed moon will be visible in large parts of Europe and South America between sunset and midnight, as well as much of Asia and Australia, between midnight and sunrise on Saturday.

Unfortunately for us here in MI, this eclipse will only be visible in the Southern Hemisphere. The "little planet" image on the left also shows the approximate size of Earth compared to the moon.

It's also expected that Mars will be shining its brightest in 15 years.
