Agent says Dedryck Boyata 'won't risk future' by playing for Celtic

The 27-year-old is in an apparent deadlock with the Scottish club after returning back from World Cup duty, with Jacques Lichtenstein angry at the Hoops' treatment of his player.

Fulham had a bid turned down before the English transfer deadline last week.

The Belgium centre half is into the final 12 months of his contract at Celtic and is desperate to leave the club, amid interest from a number of sides, including Fenerbahce and Sevilla.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers admits that he would have liked to have had Dedryck Boyata in his squad to face AEK Athens, but the defender has instead been left in Glasgow. He is a player that we would have loved to have here with us.

He spoke to the Belgian website and said following on the issue: "When I hear I've refused to play since I came back from vacation, it's wrong".
