A dead fetus was reportedly discovered by cleaning crews inside a toilet aboard an American Airlines plane at New York's LaGuardia Airport on Tuesday, according to WNBC.

A cleaning crew discovered the fetus in the bathroom of a flight that arrived in NY from Charlotte, N.C., late Monday night, PIX11 reports.

The fetus was discovered by airline cleaning staff in a restroom aboard American Airlines Flight 1942 after it landed, the official told the Observer.

Fetus was thought to be 5 months along.

Airport officials this morning tweeted about possible delays, but did not make mention of the reason. The plane was later moved to an American Airlines hangar. "Please check with @AmericanAir before your departure", the post said. American Airlines said it was assisting police with their investigation.

'We have no major impact to our operation this morning while we are working with law enforcement on an investigation, ' a spokesman said.

"They didn't tell us anything until we were already waiting at the gate", she griped.
