Heading into the weekend, the Trumpster lit up James on Twitter following an interview he did with "fake news" outlet CNN's Don Lemon.

Earlier this week, James was a guest on CNN Tonight with Don Lemon for an interview about the "I Promise" school that opened in Akron on Monday.

James had just opened a school for underprivileged children in Ohio. LeBron is giving every student all sorts of benefits, from bicycles to free tuition at the Univ. of Akron.

To the sporting world and largely beyond, he's King James, but to President Trump, LeBron James' is no intellectual genius.

CNN's public relations arm also responded to president's tweet on Saturday.

So here is the interview, followed by Trump's tweet and the responses to it.

When Lemon pressed James if he would consider running for president, he eventually said, "Let's see first". "I like Mike!", Donald's highly opinionated tweet read.

In June, Trump said that neither the Cleveland Cavaliers - James' previous team - nor the Golden State Warriors would be invited to the White House following the NBA Finals.

"You would never, you don't want to talk to him?" "He's dividing us. I can't sit back and say nothing". He has often been an outspoken critic of Trump. He unleashed a tweet following the racial violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, last August saying, "Hate has always existed in America. Statues has nothing to do with us now!"

He also, after former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson reportedly called him a "moron", challenged his own Cabinet member to an IQ test.

"Going to the White House was a great honor until you showed up!"

Trump is traveling to OH on Saturday for a rally where he will campaign for state Sen.

Despite this, there hasn't always been bad blood between Mr Trump and the three-time National Basketball Association champion. In a 2013 tweet, Trump wrote, "Lebron is a great player and a great guy!"
