Mauricio Pochettino says Brexit influenced Tottenham's lack of summer transfers

It meant Spurs became the first ever Premier League club not to make a summer signing since the window began in 2003.

It was reported Spurs had a £25m bid for Grealish rejected earlier this week as Villa's new owners have insisted that the England under-21 worldwide would not leave before the transfer deadline on Thursday.

Spurs are yet to sign or sell any senior players, and the Premier League transfer window closes at 5 p.m. BST.

The tonic to that lack of transfer activity is that Spurs have been able to keep all of their top stars, with a number of them tied down to new deals.

Mauricio Pochettino has told Danny Rose, Toby Alderweireld and Mousa Dembele to forget about their futures and concentrate on Tottenham.

Alderweireld was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United but firm interest never materialised.

"It's hard to understand for people that Tottenham didn't sign or sell a player, but sometimes in football you need to behave differently and we're happy with our squad", he said.

Deadline Day Transfer: Manchester United to make three signings today
There was more fun being had in Claude Puel's presser as the Leicester manager mentioned United's interest in Maguire. Bilbao keeper Kepa has headed to London as Courtois' replacement, joining the Blues in a seven-year deal.

Get ready for a ideal Perseid meteor show
Even better news still, the moon won't be spoiling the view. "You can look anywhere you want to - even directly overhead". Those bits of cosmic dust fall into our atmosphere, creating the bright streaks we see as meteors in the night sky.

Chelsea agree to sell Courtois to Real Madrid
Courtois has always been linked with Madrid , while Kovacic has spent the summer forcing an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu. Courtois originally posted a written message to Chelsea fans on Facebook , but removed it shortly afterwards.

The Argentine also added that while their stadium cost "nearly £1bn", Brexit's effect on the pound against the Euro has made for a "30 per cent" increase when looking to bring players over from the continent.

The north London club were prepared to offload the trio this summer but ultimately retained them after failing to find adequate replacements. [It's about] if you really need [them] or not and then if you can get your target or not.

"Our targets are always in the same level of Real Madrid or Manchester United or Manchester City, but for different circumstances we can not achieve that".

"I am not anxious, I am not sad, I am so happy".

"It maybe looks bad [not to sign anyone] because of the perception and because of the history of football, but that is our decision - to keep the best players and to keep the squad. Some people make a drama in football and drama for me is another thing", Pochettino said.

"If we are happy with our squad and can not improve our squad, sometimes it's better to keep our squad together". When it's not possible it's not possible and you have to move on and believe in the way we work and be competitive. "We all know the situation".
