Further, it is reported that Zaha has rejected the club's advance at renewing his contract and bettering the package he now earns, with fresh terms giving him up to £125,000-a-week, a decent step-up from a recent contract he signed that sees him earn £100,000-a-week now.

A host of clubs are believed to be interested in Zaha, but with his big-money move to Manchester United having fallen flat earlier in his career, he is thought to be reluctant to move up North once again.

"The last two seasons, in particular, have shown his maturity, and his end product has got better". The Blues though, have been more concrete with their interest in the 25-year-old.

The Stamford Bridge faithful have been left worrying as Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois and Willian have all been linked with moves away.

Hodgson, the veteran Crystal Palace chief, meanwhile, is confident about retaining Zaha for the upcoming term and shared what he discussed with the dynamic attacker recently.

The race to sign Zaha is getting increasingly unpredictable.

Zaha has been a vital player for the Eagles since returning to Selhurst Park three years ago and he played a key role in helping Palace avoid relegation from the Premier League last season after providing 9 goals and 5 assists in his 29 appearances.

Palace will not sell the Ivory Coast global unless they are offered a huge sum to sell him for a second time in his career.

Should Chelsea land the Ivorian's signature, he would become their third signing of the window after Jorginho and Rob Green joined the club. An interesting next few days beckon.
