Amazon's Bezos says Trump should be 'glad' of media scrutiny

I want to close be thanking everyone who sent me suggestions, and for the inspiring examples of innovation I see every day, large and small.

The "Bezos Day One Fund" created by Bezos and his wife MacKenzie will focus on two areas: helping "existing nonprofits that help homeless families" and funding "a network of new, nonprofit, tier-one preschools in low-income communities", he wrote.

It's not yet known what his preschools will look like except that they will be based on the teaching philosophy of Maria Montessori, which focuses on play-based learning that caters to individuality and social-emotional development. Some activists and politicians have partly blamed the city's problems on Amazon.

"Why am I wearing pajamas to an Amazon board meeting?"

Mr Bezos - reportedly worth more than $164bn - has faced criticism for not doing more philanthropic work. The fund's vision statement comes from non-profit Mary's Place in Seattle: no child sleeps outside. He has not signed on to the Giving Pledge, and the Bezos Family Foundation is reportedly run by his parents; Bezos does not play an active role.

Naby Keita says he needs time to adapt at Liverpool
Xherdan Shaqiri insists he remains calm despite struggling to make an impact since his summer move from Stoke City to Liverpool . You can see that there is a lot of quality in our team and we are hard-working every day.

"He's a pretty incredible neighbour, him and [his wife] MacKenzie", said Mary's Place director Marty Hartman. "In the caption, he wrote, "September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month", he further wrote that Amazon employees around the globe will be wearing pjs to work to show their solidarity and support to children suffering from the deadly disease".

"We will build an organisation to directly operate these schools".

The Seattle City Council unanimously backed the proposed business tax, dubbed "Amazon Tax", in May, only to back down a month later after Amazon halted the construction planning for a new high-rise in the city. "The media is going to be fine", he said during the conversation with economic club president David Rubenstein.

Bezos asked for suggestions for philanthropic focuses in a tweet previous year. In January, he said he would donate $33 million to a scholarship fund for young "dreamers", immigrants brought to the United States illegally as children. The Seattle-based Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as the world's largest private nonprofit foundation has an endowment worth over $40 billion United States and has long supported homelessness services for families in the city.

While the online retail giant's presence made Seattle the fastest-growing big city in the United States, it also has taken a toll on its residents, driving up rent prices, clogging traffic and overwhelming public transportation.
