Google Lens can now ID items in image search results

The Lens technology, derived from the company's various deep learning projects that teach computers to recognize objects in photos, can tell people what breed of dog their beloved pooch may be by scanning their pet photos.

Google promised last month that it would roll out Lens to Google Images after announcing the object recognition technology in May of a year ago. With Lens, you can choose one of the images in the search results and the feature will display relevant photos that may contain links to product pages, for example, so that you can purchase the item you want. To use this feature, you need to tap the Lens button in Google Images, dots will appear on objects you can learn more about.

Google announced earlier that they would be bringing some updates to Google Images. If they are not visible, users can draw around an object in a photo to trigger a search for related information. Alternatively, you could also use your finger to draw a circle around any part of an image that interests you.
