According to The Albuquerque Journal - relaying reports from the New Mexico Film Office - filming is scheduled to begin later this month on a Breaking Bad flick, which is now going under the possibly temporary name of "Greenbrier".

Both Variety and The Hollywood Reporter are reporting that Vince Gilligan, creator of Breaking Bad and prequel series Better Call Saul, is working on a movie that will be in Walter White's universe. After all, the series axed not only main character and driving force Walter White, but also his chief pursuant (and loving brother-in-law) Hank Schrader, primary villain Gus Fring, and everyone's favorite iron-fisted curmudgeon Mike Ehrmantraut.

The film is largely expected to follow the next steps of Jesse Pinkman, the ex-pupil of Bryan Cranston's Walter White.

The movie "will be set in the existing Breaking Bad franchise", according to sources. This news only leaked due to the New Mexico Film Office putting out the project's title and logline and the Journal figuring out the rest. Walt had his time in the sun, and wisely hasn't been the centerpiece of Better Call Saul's later seasons.

Currently, it still hasn't been confirmed if the film will release in theatres or online streaming giants, however, it would mark Gilligan's first project with Sony TV in a three-year deal he signed with them in July.

And this idea, from what I'm told, gets into those...

Man pleads guilty to killing pregnant wife and young daughters
He arrived the court wearing a bullet proof vest and sobbed each time he pleaded guilty to each of the nine charges. Rourke said Tuesday that investigators never believed that Watts was being entirely truthful.

That would be interesting, although it would also be something very different from Breaking Bad, given that it would, let's say, preclude other Breaking Bad cast members involvement.

AMC and Sony Pictures Television had no comment on the Breaking Bad project.

While there's no official announcement, "Breaking Bad" star Bryan Cranston confirmed the reports during a call-in chat with "The Dan Patrick Show" on Wednesday.

"And as a huge fan, I have to know how Better Call Saul will tie itself into the beginning of Breaking Bad".

It's still not known whether it will be shown in cinemas or aired on television.
