A razor-thin margin in the votes cast in the divided state has Florida gearing up for recounts in both the gubernatorial and senate races.

Senator Bill Nelson's campaign and the Democratic Executive Committee of Florida have filed a lawsuit against the state's Secretary of State, Ken Detzner, challenging the rejection of vote-by-mail and provisional ballots based on voter signatures.

Broward Elections Supervisor Brenda Snipes said she didn't know how many ballots remain to be counted, but all were being processed.

He said that by 4 p.m. Friday, 52 of the state's 67 counties have already provided their returns to the state.

"I was more just out of curiosity looking at all these close elections and frustrated by the results", Murphy said. Later, she ran for the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections and won.

Republicans "easily won" in Broward County, Mr Trump said, citing no evidence.

Scott supporters say there's election fraud taking place to help Nelson.

All the complaining Trump, Scott and other Republicans are doing about ballots still being counted in heavily Democratic South Florida counties is either based on ignorance of the process or a deliberate effort to mislead the public, Elias added. A recount would be automatically triggered if the candidates are within 0.5 points of each other and the machine recount would need to be completed by 3 p.m. on November 15.

In the midst of researching the results, Murphy says he chose to go to the Palm Beach County website to ensure that his vote was registered.

Senator Marco Rubio, another Florida Republican, has also been an outspoken critic of the recount process, tweeting repeatedly about the controversy and earning Mr Trump's praise.

The Associated Press has called the governor's race for DeSantis. However, in the days after the election, votes that continued to file in tightened the race further, leading to the possibility of a state-mandated recount more likely.

Plessinger went on to say that because of the message from the Department of State, her agency is not actively investigating anything related to the election, including the officials in Broward and Palm Beach counties.

In a news conference, Scott claimed Broward County announced there were 634,000 ballots cast on Election Day.

Rancor was spilling into governors' races, where Andrew Gillum in Florida and Stacey Abrams in Georgia were aiming to become the states' first African-American leaders, but the contests were tilting in favor of their Republican rivals.

"I am considering every single legal option available", Scott said while appearing before the media outside the governor's mansion in an event held by his campaign.

Democrats frequently poo poo concerns of election integrity, oppose voter ID laws, push for former felons to regain the right to vote, and dismiss reports of illegal immigrants and dead people casting ballots.

Nelson attorney Marc Elias, who has been involved in a number of recounts across the country, pointed to an ongoing count of provisional ballots and ballots that may not have been properly scanned.

The margin in the Senate race of 0.18 percentage points meant the race was headed to a lengthy hand recount, triggered by law with margins of less than 0.25 percentage points.
