WOW! Trump BLOWS UP at Jim Acosta: 'You are a rude, terrible person'

The activist, Jennicet Gutiérrez, who is transgender and says she is in the country illegally, interrupted Mr. Obama shortly after he began speaking, calling from the back of the room, "President Obama, release all L.G.B.T.Q. immigrants from detention and stop all deportations!"

CNN's Jim Acosta (L) hugs colleague Peter Alexander of NBC after a tense exchange between Acosta and U.S. President Donald Trump during a news conference following Tuesday's midterm US congressional elections at the White House in Washington, US, November 7, 2018. The way you treat other people is terrible.

The edited version has been shared by White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders.

"I was seated next to @Acosta at today's press conference and did not witness him "placing his hands" on the young intern, as the White House alleges", Reuters reporter Jeff Mason wrote on Twitter.

"There's no evidence that the video was deliberately sped up - but the change in format, from a high-quality video to a low-quality GIF, turns the question of whether it was "doctored" into a semantic debate", BuzzFeed's Charlie Warzel reports. "She provided fraudulent accusations and cited an incident that never happened", CNN said.

CNN said in a statement that Sanders "lied" on Wednesday night. "This unprecedented decision is a threat to our democracy and the country deserves better", CNN added. "We will not tolerate the inappropriate behaviour clearly documented in this video".

That's when CNN executive Matt Dornic got involved, alleging that Sanders was spreading "actual fake news" by using a "doctored" video to make Acosta's bad behavior look worse.

It also would not explain why press officers managing Wednesday's news conference asked the intern to try to wrestle the microphone away from Acosta, rather than just turning it off remotely from the board that controls the audio. Surely you don't trust InfoWars.? "They are not only risky, they are disturbingly un-American", the network said, voicing its support for Acosta and "journalists everywhere".

In the incident, President Trump engaged with Acosta and then said he had enough of his questions before a young woman walked over to take the microphone away.

"This is a test for all of us", Acosta told Cooper later.

The White House suspended Acosta's press credentials after the press conference, limiting his access to the White House grounds. Sure. Is it appropriate for the White House to seize the hard pass to obstruct daily access to the White House to someone because the president wants to spar with him and considers him a critic? No. "You are a rude, awful person", Trump added.

Margaret Talev, senior White House correspondent for Bloomberg News, and board member and past president of the White House Correspondents Association, weighed in on these events when she joined On Point Thursday.
