All Eyes on Florida's Gubernatorial Race: Will Florida Go Blue?

"Ron Desantis and congratulated him on what we expect will be him as the Governor of the great State of Florida", said Gillum.

As has become typical in Florida gubernatorial and presidential races in recent years, the final margin is likely to be about 1 percentage point, with DeSantis clinging to a margin of less than 100,000 votes out of almost 8 million cast.

The graphic showed Democrat Andrew Gillum defeating former GOP Rep. Ron DeSantis by 49.4 percent to 48.8 percent with 99 percent of the precincts reporting.

In Florida, Gillum campaigned with former President Barack Obama.

In short, the Democrats' blue wave hit President Donald Trump's figurative red wall, and once again Florida maintained its reputation for close elections - with Republicans having the edge.

With a razor-thin margin separating Senate candidates Rick Scott and Bill Nelson, Broward County - a Democratic bastion - was still counting votes Wednesday, with no idea how many are left.

In Kansas, Democrat Laura Kelly defeated Kris Kobach, a staunch Trump ally, where outgoing Republican Governor Sam Brownback suffered from low approval ratings. "This shows the new wave of Republican leadership in our country".

Manchester City 6-1 Southampton: Three match takeaways
There is a chance Hazard could start and be taken off at half time but I think he's more likely to introduce him from the bench. I watched the game against Liverpool and they struggled a lot. "Obviously if we don't drop points, we have the chance to do it".

It comes after an unusually high attrition rate of European horses at Werribee this year. He's the one that's given us the encouragement to take the chances in what we do.

Killer tiger shot dead
Shafat Ali Khan, whose son Asghar Ali Khan killed the tigress, defended their action saying the bullet was sacked in self-defence. A 2014 census put India's tiger population at 2,226, down from around 40,000 in the 1940s. "I was not a minister then", he added.

Democrats viewed the governor's race in Wisconsin, where Republican Scott Walker was seeking a third term, as winnable. "We are still on the verge of history, and the best is yet to come".

"This Groundhog Day conversation has happened every Wednesday morning after the election every two years", said Fernand Amandi, a Miami pollster who helped Donna Shalala flip a congressional district blue. Gillum called himself "the most unapologetically progressive" candidate in the five-candidate Democratic field and staked out some positions beyond the reach of state government, such as his call for Trump's impeachment or his endorsement of Sanders' "Medicare for all" plan.

DeSantis addressed his supporters in Orlando on Tuesday night.

DeSantis, a Harvard-educated lawyer, has said that he will appoint conservative justices who are "solid constitutionalists". Neither Georgia nor Florida has elected a Democratic governor in 20 years. Governing is about getting things done on behalf of the people of Florida, keeping our economy going, improving our water quality and environment, promoting public safety and expanding educational opportunities.

Republicans, meanwhile, were eyeing potential pickups in CT and OR, both traditionally Democratic states. Democrats now have complete control of state government in Colorado, New York, Illinois, Maine and New Mexico.

The race for governor is the state's most visible contest this year. Not only do Republicans control both chambers of the state Legislature, they'll likely control the Governor's Mansion, the Cabinet and both U.S. Senate seats in the near future.
