More than 400 firefighters from Ventura County, Los Angeles County, the City of Los Angeles and Cal Fire were battling the brush fire.

Wind gusts of up to 77 miles per hour were reported in Los Angeles County on Friday morning.

The Los Angeles Police Department was placed on a citywide tactical alert about 12:45 a.m.to ensure all resources are available to assist with any evacuation orders and road closures prompted by the Woolsey Fire, according to a department statement.

Winds were expected to weaken Friday afternoon into Saturday.

Winds calmed in some areas and intensified in others Friday morning, National Weather Service forecasts show.
