Bolivia Slams US 'Clumsiness' at UNSC Meeting On Iran Protests

US fails to get UNSC action on Iranian protests

At the forefront of resistance to the Islamist mullahs' bloody crackdown on pro-democratic protesters are U.S. Ambassador to U.N. Nikki Haley and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin.

America's ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, said the meeting showed Iran that "the world will be watching" its actions.

But Russia's envoy shot back that if the USA view holds, the Council should have also discussed the 2014 unrest in the United States suburb of Ferguson, Missouri over the police shooting of a black teenager or the USA crackdown on the Occupy Wall Street movement.

The statement, backed by other nations, carry an implicit criticism of the USA for refusing to acknowledge the Security Council's main responsibility which is maintaining global peace and security. Blue-collar Iranians also want a higher pay and a way to address the nation's widespread problem of unemployement, global media reported.

Seyyed Hossein Naghavi Hosseini told Mehr News about the recent UN Security Council session and the USA attempt to bring up the topic of the recent protests in Iran and said "the USA has always interfered in the domestic affairs of other countries".

While the Obama administration flew in freights of cash and wired back billions of dollars to the terrorism-exporting Iranian regime, the Trump administration has declared full-throated support of Iranian protesters clamoring for freedom and has now slapped on additional sanctions.

A Leeds side showing nine changes from their previous game led thanks to Gaetano Berardi's deflected strike in the 10th minute. The nearest they came to scoring was in the first half when Jimmy Abdou's shot hit the bar. "It was an outstanding header".

Oakland Raiders Set to Ask Jon Gruden to Return as Coach
The NFL's finance committee also would have to vet Gruden, but there is no reason to think it would not approve the deal. Jon Gruden will leave the ESPN booth to return as coach of the Oakland Raiders , ESPN's Adam Schefter reported .

Under its charter, the United Nations empowers the council to "investigate any dispute, or any situation which might lead to global friction".

Iran is not a member of the Security Council but its ambassador, Gholamali Khoshroo, was invited to participate.

"We must be wary of any attempt to exploit this crisis for personal ends", France's Permanent Representative Francois Delattre said, adding that the Council must commit to upholding the nuclear agreement.

Following recent unrests in certain parts of Iran, US Representative to the UN Nikki Haley in a speech to reporters at the UN headquarters on January 2 accused Iran of violating human rights and freedom of expression and said Washington was after sessions on Iran by UNSC in NY and UN Human Rights Commission in Geneva.

Mr Khoshroo claimed the protests had received "direct encouragement by foreign forces including by the president of the United States", something the Trump administration has denied.
