The Chicago Bears interviewed the offensive coordinators in Minnesota and New England for their coaching job on Friday.
Now that interviews with popular candidates McDaniels and Patricia are in the books, the Giants' contingent is expected to fly to Minnesota for a Saturday interview with Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur. He was elected to his ninth Pro Bowl in his 10 seasons with McDaniels serving as his position coach or coordinator. But as a top assistant in one of the most successful regimes in National Football League history and with a long history of working with one of the greatest quarterbacks in Tom Brady, he is one of the top candidates on the market. This season, Brady led the National Football League with 4,577 passing yards and threw 32 touchdown passes against only eight interceptions.
The Patriots also traded 26-year-old backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to the 49ers in October, and the team now has no long-term plan in place to succeed 40-year-old Brady at quarterback, which could potentially turn McDaniels away.

'Three Billboards' wins big as Golden Globes power through sex scandal
It was just another illustration of how the "MeToo" reckoning that has plowed through Hollywood has upended awards season. Star Daniel Kaluuya was nominated for best comedy actor and the movie was also nominated for best comedy film.
"Josh has done an incredible job", Brady said during a recent interview with WEEI in Boston, according to the New York Daily News. In addition to Belichick, the eldest McDaniels is his greatest coaching influence. He was a 33-year-old coach and his mistakes were well-documented. A lot of coaches got fired and that means other guys will get hired.
McDaniels first served as an assistant with the Patriots from 2001-08, and played a key role on a staff that won three Super Bowl titles and four AFC championships. Brady also set franchise marks in almost every major passing category, while wide receiver Wes Welker set the franchise record for receptions in a season (112) and Randy Moss broke the National Football League record for touchdown receptions with 23.
He does have experience as a head coach, for the Broncos from 2009-10, and is regarded as a big reason for Tom Brady's status as the NFL's top quarterback. He compiled a 11-17 record before being fired with four games remaining in his second season in 2010. He joined the Vikings as tight ends coach in 2016. He returned to the Patriots during the 2011 playoffs as an offensive assistant with the promise of replacing Bill O'Brien as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2012 after O'Brien had agreed to become head coach at Penn State. A 1996 graduate of RPI, he worked for two years as an aeronautical engineer before returning to coaching in 1999.
