2018 Dakar Rally Motorcycle Preview Honda's Ricky Brabec
For those into off-road motorcycle racing, January means much more than the start of the New Year.
Sunday's stage two of the 2018 Dakar will consist of a short 12km liaison leading into a 267km special stage in a loop to the east of the small Peruvian town of Pisco.
Reigning Dakar champion Sam Sunderland has taken the win on stage one of the 2018 Dakar Rally. As for the special stage, I chose to attack from the start.
This year's Dakar Rally will comprise 14 stages and cover nearly 9,000km in three countries before ending in the northern Argentine city of Cordoba on January 20. It will also feature two marathon stages where riders will have zero access to pit crews. Monster Energy HRC rider Ricky Brabec is in 11th, while Rockstar Husky rider Andrew Short sits 27th.
All eyes will be on the Red Bull KTM team of Sam Sunderland, Toby Price, Matthias Walkner and Antoine Meo as KTM looks to claim 17-straight Dakar Rally victories. As for Despres, he will once again be competing in a Peugeot on the auto side.
"We spent the last six days before the rally in Morocco but not with the Toyota". Bringing his FR 450 Rally machine to the finish of stage one without any problems. However, the 34-year-old rider, who is competing in his fourth Dakar, reminded all that it just the start of the 9000km race. "The pace is there, and my leg feels good so I'm excited for the rest of event".

"There's always a lot of work and preparation in the last couple of months on the run up to Dakar".
Santosh was the team's best performer as he was able to maintain a top 15 position on Day 1. "Everyone in the team is focused on Dakar".
