President Trump shakes hands with White House physician Dr. Ronny Jackson following his annual physical at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Jan. 12
"The president's overall health is excellent", Jackson said.
Donald Trump's doctor has said he has "no concerns" about the state of the USA president's mental health, despite recent concerns raised about whether he was fit for duty.
Keen to put an end to rumours about his mental health, which peaked when he appeared to slur his words as he announced that the United States would recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital last month, the 71-year-old asked Dr Ronny Jackson to carry out the assessment and scored a ideal 30/30.
Jackson said on Tuesday that Trump asked Jackson to perform the cognitive exam, which the doctor did not plan to do, having deemed it unnecessary.
The question arose after speculation about Trump's mental fitness for office, spurred by the publication of Michael Wolff's book, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, which suggested Trump's own aides worry about his stability.
Jackson said he hopes to bring down the LDL or "bad cholesterol" score with diet, exercise and statin medication.
Despite questions swirling about the president's cognitive abilities given reports that he sometimes repeats himself during meetings, Jackson said that Trump scored a 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment - self described as a "cognitive screening test created to assist Health Professionals in the detection of mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease". "And I think he wasn't the least bit concerned that he had anything to hide". "He has incredibly good genes, and that's just the way God made him".
Trump was aiming to lose between 10 to 15 pounds.
Noting that the physical tests showed Mr Trump had "above-age exercise capacity based on age and sex", Dr Jackson said Mr Trump benefitted from a "lifetime of abstinence from tobacco and alcohol".

Kamala mills hearth: Mojo's Bistro proprietor Yug Tulli surrenders in Mumbai
The co-owner of the Mojo Bistro in Mumbai , Yug Tuli , surrendered to the Mumbai police on Tuesday morning. Yug Tulli was arrested for culpable homicide not amounting to murder in connection with the fire tragedy.
"The President did exceedingly well on it", Jackson said.
However, he said that the president had insisted that a cognitive examination be included in the tests.
Jackson's stellar review of President Trump is likely to take his critics - who have been claiming he is mentally unfit for office - by surprise, particularly as they have pointed to signs of dementia, Alzheimers and other cognitive deterioration.
I hope that this puts to rest all the nonsense about questioning the president's mental fitness. "He is more enthusiastic about the diet part than the exercise part but we're going to do both".
"I found no evidence that the president has any issues whatsoever with his thought process", Jackson told reporters during Tuesday's White House briefing.
A number of psychiatrists and politicians have in recent weeks voiced concern over Trump's mental fitness, referencing his repeated nuclear missile threats against North Korea over Twitter.
Jackson also revealed that Trump takes medication for hair loss and applies cilantro cream on his face to prevent outbreaks of rosacea - a skin condition that causes redness and small bumps.
Jackson said he didn't have enough time to test Trump's hearing, although he planned to conduct such a test in future physicals.
