Dunkin' Donuts Future
In a story January 13 about a new Dunkin' Donuts store opening near Boston, The Associated Press reported erroneously that it would be the company's first location in the U.S.to be billed simply as Dunkin'. This month, parent company Dunkin' Brands Group announced it had removed artificial colors from all of its doughnuts in the U.S. Last February the company tested out a streamlined menu, and in January of this year, they announced the limited menu would be rolled out to all locations.
The 2,200 square foot store is one of more than 430 new and remodeled stores that will have some variation of the new concept. According to local reps, it's actually the third store to bear the Dunkin'-only brand so far.
For example, the store has two drive-through lanes: one for traditional drive-through orders and one for mobile pre-orders through the Dunkin' Donuts app, which allows drivers to bypass the ordering kiosk and merge directly into line for the pick-up window, where they give their name and receive their order. "We have worked closely with our franchisee community to create a positive, energetic atmosphere for our guests that remains true to our heritage, while emphasizing and enhancing the unparalleled convenience, digital innovation and restaurant excellence that distinguishes Dunkin'".
The concept store also includes a tap system for cold beverages including nitro infused cold brew.
Dunkin's new store features an exclusive On-the-Go drive-thru lane for DD Perks members.

At the ribbon-cutting for the new concept store, Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch, joined by other elected officials, declared January 16 "Dunkin' Donuts Day" in the city. Crew members will use top-quality flavor-maximizing espresso machines to make hand-crafted drinks to order. The section will include better-for-you options such as fresh bananas, mini oranges and grapes, Gogo Squeez apple sauce, Yoplait yogurt parfaits featuring Nature Valley granola and other packaged snacks such as beef jerky and nut butter packs. There is also an area dedicated to mobile pickups, so that DD Perks members who order ahead via its app can get in and out of the restaurant faster than before.
Inside, the Quincy location features digital menu boards and a sleek design, as well as an upfront glass bakery case to display doughnuts and other baked goods.
Another innovation, fully integrated digital kiosks, are coming in 2018, Dunkin' said. Dunkin' Donuts'final new store design is expected to be unveiled once testing is complete.TheQuincystore is also one of a select number of Dunkin' Donuts restaurants testing new signage that refers to the brand simply as "Dunkin'".
Even the employee uniforms are new, in a partnership with the Life Is Good brand that feature phrases such as "Fueled by Positive Energy", and "Drink Coffee".
"We think our personality is more bartender rather than sommelier", Hoffman said, adding that the tap system evokes "the Dunkin' blue-collar soul".
