GoPro's future was once hanging on its Karma drone, but it sounds like things might not be going so well.

GoPro in early 2017 slashed its workforce by 270 employees in what was the third wave of job cuts since the beginning of 2016. After the drone was fixed and re-released, a few analysts talked up the progress being made in this area. CEO Nick Woodman reported that the company had 1,254 employees as recently as November of a year ago.

Around 200 to 300 workers were laid off this week, according to a report Thursday by tech news site TechCrunch that cites unnamed sources.

First snow, now bitter cold disrupts life on East Coast
There is near-zero visibility in some of the snow bands passing over the states from New Jersey to ME , the weather service says. The cold has been blamed for at least nine deaths over the past few days, including those of two homeless people in Houston.

Sources say the impacted employees were relieved of their duties this week but will remain on GoPro's payroll until February 16.

GoPro has struggled to compete in the camera drone market, which is dominated by the Chinese company DJI and its popular drones, such as the Spark, Mavic Pro, Phantom.
