After years of fantastic film performances (and a few scattered television mini-series), Oscar-nominated actor Helena Bonham Carter might be ready to make a bigger TV commitment, as she is in talks with streaming giant Netflix to join its historical drama The Crown as Princess Margaret. Kirby portrayed the younger incarnation of Princess Margaret during the show's first two seasons.
Netflix recently announced that Olivia Colman would replace Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth II in seasons three and four of the show, a role that Bonham Carter had herself been linked to.
Netflix hasn't released any official statement just yet, but the addition of Carter comes as part of a major recasting effort, given the show's third season will switch gears to focus on Elizabeth II between the years of 1957 and 1964. Neither Netflix nor the actress' representatives have confirmed the report.
It has always been known what The Crown's creator, Peter Morgan, has envisioned for the masterful Netflix series: a sweeping saga that follows the British royal family throughout the 20th century. No announcement has yet been made on who will replace Matt Smith as Prince Philip.

So what else can we expect from Season 3?
This post contains mild spoilers for The Crown's second season.
Season 2, which took place in the '60s, saw Queen Elizabeth facing war and several scandals, including the fall of Prime Minister Harold Macmillan, rumors of infidelity and her British troops being forced out of Egypt by the United States and the USSR during the Suez Crisis. Her on screen relationship with Tony Armstrong Jones was one of the best arcs of the entire season - and finally gave us some good old fashioned royal, eh, shagging. Vanessa Kirby has portrayed the controversial character for the past two seasons. Rumor has it that Margaret and Lord Snowdon had several affairs during their first 10 years of marriage.
Netflix has invested a staggering £100 million in the royal drama, which is now meant to have six series - making it the most expensive TV show to date.
