The protestors carried placards with '#ChappalChorPakistan' and "in solidarity Kulbhushan's family" written on them.

India on Thursday slammed Pakistan for a video it released showing Kulbhushan Jadhav, an Indian sentenced to death in that country, purportedly confessing that he was a serving officer of the Indian Navy and that a diplomat who accompanied his family for a meeting with him on 25 December shouted at his mother.

Last month, Pakistan allowed Jadhav's mother and wife to visit him in prison despite rejecting many requests by India for consular access since Jadhav's capture. They were kept in a room separated by a glass wall.

Indian Journalist Chandan Nanday, who filed the story on Kulbhushan Jadhav, goes missing on Saturday.

"When they stole the chappal of a woman (Jadhav's wife) who was in distress, I hope they can use these also", said a protestor, pointing to the use show "donated" to the embassy. It should be mentioned here that Kulbhushan also vented his fury over the way Indian authorities treated his mother and wife soon after the meeting was over.

Tearing into Pakistan for humiliating Jadhav's mother and wife in Pakistan, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had said that the meeting lacked "humanity" and "goodwill", and accused Islamabad of conducting it as a "propaganda exercise" and "an opportunity to exploit the situation". Pakistani officials also confiscated Jadhav's wife's shoes and did not return it. "I want to say one thing - Pakistan ka matlab kya?" Amreeka se dollar la, Hindustan ke joote kha!

While Swaraj's verbal attack sought to blunt Pakistan's charges, there have been numerous protests elsewhere in India and even overseas. Swaraj asked if something really suspicious was there in the footwear then why nothing was detected by the security check of Emirates Airline, which she took from Dubai to Islamabad.

Pakistan claims Jadhav is a RAW agent and was arrested from its Balochistan province.
