Pyongyang plans to send music band to Winter Olympics in South Korea

In 1987, a year before the Seoul Olympics, Pyongyang bombed a South Korean passenger jet to try to scare off would-be participants. If the two Koreas participate in the Olympics as a unified team, the Kim and Kam pair will not be able to compete.

With the clock ticking before the event begins on February 9, the Koreas will also meet the International Olympic Committee in Switzerland on Saturday.

Vice minister-level chief negotiators from the two sides will be attending working-level talks scheduled for January 17.

Monday's talks at the truce village of Panmunjeom came after the two Koreas agreed last Tuesday to work out the details of North Korean participation in the Winter Games through a series of talks.

The DPRK and South Korea are holding their second meeting within one week on Monday in Panmunjom, discussing the dispatch of artists to the PyeongChang Winter Olympics to be held next month.

Wednesday's North Korean offer on the talks was in response to a South Korean proposal made last Friday to hold working-level talks on Monday.

African ambassadors to United Nations call Trump's remark "outrageous, racist"
In the past few weeks, President Trump has accused all Haitians of having AIDS and stated that all Nigerians live in huts. Trump reportedly made the remarks at a private meeting with lawmakers on immigration on Thursday. "That I can tell you".

The "scope and timing of the exercises suggest a renewed focus on getting the country's military prepared for what could be on the horizon with North Korea", it added.

But a bellicose war of words with the United States has eased in recent days with talk of the North taking part in the Olympics. Critics question how long the warmer mood can last without any serious discussion on the North's nuclear disarmament.

North Koreans have expressed their "vehement resentment" and doubts on whether Pyongyang should send a "sacred delegation" to the 2018 Winter Olympics due to the slanted reports, the article claims. "South Korea should carefully consider how their ill-mannered behaviors can bring shameful results."The article did promote the talks themselves as a positive development when it comes to inter-Korean relations". The US is beefing up its presence around the peninsula in what it describes as routine training and scheduled upgrades. South Korean President dittoed Haley, indicating that improvements in ties must go hand in hand with steps towards denuclearisation of the North.

The decision was reached following a high level meeting, involving Ri Son-gwon, North Korea's chief delegate and Cho Myoung-gyon, South Korea's Unification Minister. The CPRC handles inter-Korean affairs within the North Korean government.

Whether the orchestra will be joined by the North's Moranbong Band "needed confirmation", according to the ministry.

The 10-strong band, established in 2012 with members supposedly chosen by leader Kim Jong-Un, is known for its Western-style, synthesizer-driven music and sophisticated fashion style rare in the isolated nation, although most of their songs praise the regime.
