Pyongyang plans to send music band to Winter Olympics in South Korea
In 1987, a year before the Seoul Olympics, Pyongyang bombed a South Korean passenger jet to try to scare off would-be participants. If the two Koreas participate in the Olympics as a unified team, the Kim and Kam pair will not be able to compete.
With the clock ticking before the event begins on February 9, the Koreas will also meet the International Olympic Committee in Switzerland on Saturday.
Vice minister-level chief negotiators from the two sides will be attending working-level talks scheduled for January 17.
Monday's talks at the truce village of Panmunjeom came after the two Koreas agreed last Tuesday to work out the details of North Korean participation in the Winter Games through a series of talks.
The DPRK and South Korea are holding their second meeting within one week on Monday in Panmunjom, discussing the dispatch of artists to the PyeongChang Winter Olympics to be held next month.
Wednesday's North Korean offer on the talks was in response to a South Korean proposal made last Friday to hold working-level talks on Monday.

Whether the orchestra will be joined by the North's Moranbong Band "needed confirmation", according to the ministry.
The 10-strong band, established in 2012 with members supposedly chosen by leader Kim Jong-Un, is known for its Western-style, synthesizer-driven music and sophisticated fashion style rare in the isolated nation, although most of their songs praise the regime.
