LG HU80KA 4K projector with HDR announced to be showcased at CES 2018
LG is beating the rest to the punch in announcing their latest high-end multimedia device ahead of the upcoming International Consumer Electronics Show 2018. There's an "Auto Cord" (I'm guessing that means "retractable") and the unit can be set on the floor, mounted on the wall or attached to the ceiling. There's no battery, but a handle lets you tote it anywhere easily, and the little cutie looks more like a modernist rectangular mini trash can - complete with open lid shooting out an image - than a projector.
The LG HU80KA is a 4K projector with HDR support, though we don't know if that will be the HDR10 standard or Dolby Vision.
The projector is capable of creating a 150-inch image with a brightness of 2500 lumens, making it the brightest projector that LG has made to date.
The company's new and first-ever release in the 4K projector market didn't even have to wait until CES 2018 to get kicked out onto the public stage. It's a full Ultra High Definition projector that's capable of outputting 4K images to a wall, and it comes in a "compact, attractive design" as well, as LG announced in a press release this Friday, Jan. 5.

With LG's webOS 3.5 Smart TV interface onboard, owners will have access to online streaming services along with wireless support for a keyboard and mouse, while other content can be loaded up through USB, Ethernet and HDMI ports. The device also includes Bluetooth and HDMI connectivity. Thus you can use this bad boy to watch Netflix or Amazon Prime Instant Video in 4K with HDR mastering pretty much as soon as you unpack and plug in the HU80KA.
LG's entire 2018 projector lineup will be on display at the LG Booth in the Las Vegas Convention Center (Booth #11100, Central Hall).
