Mike Mularkey gets vote of confidence from Titans owner

Josh Mc Daniels could wind up as head coach of Tennessee if the Titans lose to the Chiefs Saturday

The Titans stormed back from a 21-3 deficit against the Chiefs, though, and as a result are going to keep Mularkey as coach moving forward.

Now apparently Mularkey is in the clear and the Titans owner, Amy Adams Strunk, is saying that those rumors were out of hand in the first place.

National reports first had Mularkey potentially fired if the Titans lost their regular-season finale against Jacksonville and again if Tennessee lost its AFC wild-card playoff game this past Saturday at Kansas City. Mularkey furthered his cause by pulling off a stunning comeback at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday afternoon, rallying for a 22-21 win by scoring 19 unanswered points in the second half.

Tight End Delanie Walker said he was one of the players who campaigned for Mularkey to be named head coach two years ago and added: "He's done a great job".

"Just to eliminate any distractions moving forward, Mike Mularkey is our head coach and will be our head coach moving forward".

Mularkey is now 20-21 in almost three seasons worth of games with the Titans after taking over midway through the year in 2015 as an interim replacement for Ken Whisenhunt.

Stansfeld also pointed out that the Thames Valley Police has enough resources to "prevent crime and improve community safety". In a letter to police he complained about "aggressive begging and intimidation" and "bags and detritus" on the streets.

Mularkey's job was reportedly in jeopardy if the Titans lost either of the last two games, the Titans won both and are on to round two of the NFL Playoffs.

Rumors out prior to the game said the Titans were prepared to make a mad dash toward Josh McDaniel's direction by firing Mularkey if they weren't able to pull off a road upset over the Chiefs.

"No, I haven't had any support to say that I was [keeping the job] so, no, I just assumed the worst", Mularkey said.

Asked if the statement has put his mind at ease, Mularkey said he has addressed the situation with his staff and won't talk about it anymore.

That's some shocking news given that Murray was questionable heading into the game. "It's been addressed, and I'm full speed ahead getting ready for New England with our staff".
