Nvidia reveals new AI platforms for smart assistants and AR in the car
Apollo Pilot is an autonomous driving product targeted for mass production.
At the start of the giant 2018 International CES show Sunday night, Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess joined NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang on stage to discuss how artificial intelligence is transforming the auto industry and pointed to VW's I.D. Buzz concept, shown at the North American International Auto Show past year, as an example of what future personal mobility will look like. "Working with NVIDIA, the leader in AI technology, enables us to take a big step into the future". The technology will enable so-called "intelligent co-pilot" capabilities based on processing sensor data inside and outside the vehicle.
The unit is set to deliver over 30 trillion operations per second while consuming 30 watts of power, and is intended for use in self-driving cars.
The driverless vehicle system created by the three companies will use Xavier from Nvidia, sensors and cameras from ZF, and Baidu's autonomous software system called Apollo Pilot.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang revealed Sunday during his keynote at CES 2018, the annual tech trade show in Las Vegas, that Aurora is going to be using Nvidia's new Xavier processor as one of the building blocks of its self-driving vehicle system. In total, over 320 partners are working with Nvidia on autonomous driving.
