Collision between 2 planes at Pearson sparks flames, prompts evacuation
Passengers have been forced to evacuate using emergency slides after two planes collided in Toronto.
Video footage posted on social media of the incident showed flames coming from the Sunwing plane as passengers were heard screaming and crying inside the WestJet aircraft.
A WestJet plane from Cancun, Mexico, had been stationary and waiting to go to a gate at Pearson International Airport just after 6pm on Friday night when it was hit by a Sunwing aircraft.
No passengers or crew members were aboard the Sunwing aircraft, the airline tweeted. "Emergency crews were on hand and responded immediately", Westjet said in a statement, according to The Associated Press.
Swissport, a provider of ground and cargo handling services for the aviation industry, confirmed late on Friday that one of its employees was involved in the collision and said it would cooperate in the investigation.

"Out of nowhere there was an audible crunch and the plane rocked slightly", Gustavo Lobo, a passenger aboard the WestJet plane told CBC News.
The incident-which happened at 6:25 p.m. ET-caused passengers to be delayed for hours.
Fire trucks and ambulances descended on the tarmac when a small fire on the Sunwing aircraft began, said Beverly MacDonald, a spokeswoman with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority.
A spokesman for the Transportation Safety Board, Canada's transportation regulator, said that a team was headed to the airport to investigate.
